Kasur is actually situated at the border line of
Indo-Pak and most of the time, its villages, situated at
the borderline, near the belt of Sutluj River, face huge
destruction due to flood disaster. These villages are
already very poor and neglected, where no basic
facilities available. After or during the flood
disaster, their condition becomes more pitiable due to
their increased problems and very difficult living
condition. During the recent flood disaster in 2010,
situation was much worsen again.
No other local, National or International organization
supported the flood affected people during these days.
To see the immediate need, GTO took the initiative, even
without getting proper training of disaster management.
GTO visited the affected villages, hold meetings with
the victims and than Provided them Food and medical
support.
District Rajanpur is also a flood prone district, which
was badly affected during the current flood disaster
2010. A huge number of people lost their houses, live
stock and crops. At the first instance, GTO moved into
that area as well to work over there according to their
need.
Free Medical Camps
GTO observed that
people are suffering from different diseases like skin
problems, stomach problems, fever, cough etc. and there
is no health facility available for these people.
Government also provided some facilities in some
villages but due to the unexpected flood, it was not
possible for government alone to cover all the villages
immediately. So, without any delay, GTO mobilized some
funds from the local level and established free medical
camps for these helpless people of affected Union
Councils Sehjra and Hussain Khan wala GTO provided
treatment to 471 patients and during these camps.
GTO hold free
medical camps in Union Council Machi Wala and UC
Shikarpur in district rajanpur and provided medical
treatment to 650 patients.
Food & Shelter Support
As a local small
organization, GTO has not enough resources to provide
the quality food and proper shelter to all the affected
people but we tried to do it as proper as it could be
with in the limited resources. Due to the flood
disaster, large number of villages suffers, but GTO
always try its level best to contribute to release the
problems of the affected people. GTO mobilized the
communities of safe villages and supported affected
communities to shift them at safe points and provided
food to 135 people for 1 day. And in the remaining days,
local host villagers afforded their food and shelters. |
