Promoting Girls Primary Education

As Education being an important pillar for human development, which not only nurtures child development, but is also a mile stone in the development of a civilized nation. Keeping in view the importance of education and one of the targeted areas of United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s), GTO is dedicatedly working on Formal Schools education program in two different backward villages. They are located in village Lakhneke and Basti Adda Wadana of District Kasur (55Km away from Provincial capital Lahore), Punjab Province, Pakistan.
In these schools, professionally qualified and trained teaching staff is imparting standard education to the poor children of these villages, irrespective of cast and religion as there is a large number of Christian communities living in district Kasur. The current strength of the schools is 329, out of which 189 are girls whereas 140 are boy students.
The program is focused to encourage enrollment, especially female in these areas convincing parents to send their girls to the schools.

Non-Formal Education

There are a number of industries, manufacturing concerns and a mushroom growth of home based industries operating in District Kasur. Brick Kilns, Shoes making factories, Leather processing, Power-looms and carpet weaving are a name to few. The socio-economic condition of a common person is very dilapidated. Poverty and many other reasons play a pivotal role in increasing illiteracy and as a reason, a large number of school going age children are working in different industries. In 75 villages, no girls school was established by the government since the creation of Pakistan.
Under these circumstances, Good Thinkers Organization is directly benefiting 739 numbers of out of school and children working in different manufacturing/industries & Agriculture Sector through three Non-Formal Schools. These non-formal schools are located in different villages of Union Council Sarhali and Muhalla Eissah Nagar (Christian community village), Chacki Piyare Laal, Kasur, where the organization is not only imparting education, but also helping them to improve their life styles through advocacy programmes.
