Public Democratic Forum
Since the creation of Pakistan, Kasur is very backward District, where various social developments, Human Rights and Democratic Issues are prevailing. Various Local NGOs and other like minded people tried to resolve the issues but remained fail. During the assessment days of World Vision-International Pakistan team here in Kasur, it was observed and recommended to established an in-depended Forum in Kasur, which will not only work on social development and human rights Issues but also try to strengthen the democratic practices. So, during the project implementation, supported by world Vision, Public Democratic Forum was established for advocacy and lobbying on the grassroots level issues, prevailing in the rural areas of Kasur. This Forum is based on the NGOs, Media, Bar, Trade Unions, Labor Unions, and other civil society groups and networks. When Village Committees identify any issue, than the representative of Village committee come in the PDF members meeting and share their problem. PDF members discuss and chalk out plan to resolve it through the participation of the local community.
Public Democratic Forum is striving to protect human rights, promoting Good Governance, giving empowerment to the communities and ensuring effective social services delivery at grassroots level through strengthened Civil Society Organizations. It is based on NGOs, Media, Bar, Trade Unions, Labor Unions and other groups, working on human rights issues or public interests. .
Objectives of PDF are
To highlight and raise Governance & Social issues and dialogue with concerned authorities and lobbying with the policy makers for sustainable solutions of the problems
To establish a common plat form to all civil society organizations & other Human Right Groups for working jointly on common issues
To provide technical & moral support and assistance to NGOs and community groups for their effective working in the community
Membership of PDF
Any organization, working for the welfare & Development of human being, can apply for PDF membership. Interested organization or individual may submit application on prescribed form to the PDF secretariat at Good Thinkers Organization office, which will be discussed in PDF members meeting and decided.
Meeting of PDF Members
Each month meeting will be held of all PDF members on regular basis. Secretariat Representative will share todate progress and PDF members will plan for further actions.
GTO Role in PDF
Good Thinkers Organization will facilitate PDF members’ monthly meeting, provide space for PDF office and responsible for other necessary arrangements.
